Welcome!
The Village of Wilmette is preparing a Historic Preservation Plan to provide a comprehensive assessment of the Village’s historic preservation program with the goal of advancing preservation as part of Wilmette’s broader planning and community development processes. The Village seeks a robust Historic Preservation Plan that helps to maintain its unique character and historic assets while also embracing and managing change. The plan will reflect many of the priorities expressed in the 2024 Ready Set Wilmette Comprehensive Plan, including expanding the relevance and impact of historic preservation in the Village while also supporting new infill housing and commercial development.
While the identification and protection of historic resources remain a priority, preservation plans now also address a broader range of community concerns and priorities including equity, housing, climate resilience, economic development, heritage tourism, and the character of non-designated buildings and neighborhoods.
Would you allow an exterior photo of your home to be included in the Wilmette Historic Preservation Plan?
